The pilot run of Mendaki Club Mentoring Circle (MC2) was launched on the 13 October 2019, at a cosy event graced by MP Rahayu Mahzam in her role leading the M3 Youth Empowerment agenda.
MC2 is a pilot mentoring programme that aims to connect Malay/Muslim undergraduates with early-career professionals.
Held over 6 months, the programme hosted monthly events to facilitate fruitful conversations, deep introspection and lasting bonds within mentoring pairs and within the broader Circle.
Our pilot run was targeted at 3 key career sectors where our youths are underrepresented, namely Business, Technology and Government.
Desired Outcomes
Foster a meaningful mentoring relationship that can help the mentee with personal growth and career development.
Create a community of dedicated working professionals that Malay/Muslim undergraduates can engage on career matters.
Build a successful pilot programme to identify learning points to grow and scale MC2 to cover more mentors-mentees and sectors.
Each mentor and mentee went through a StrengthFinder profiling assessment during the first session. The assessment facilitated mentor-mentee pairings by clarifying their individual strengths and generating awareness of the self and the other so as to achieve a meaningful mentoring relationship. Subsequent monthly sessions will include recreational and self-development activities.
