🚀 EXPLORE Madrasah 2024: Empowering Future Leaders! 🧑‍🎓✨

Updated: Sep 25

Close to 40 Madrasah students from Madrasah Al-Arabiah Al-Islamiah, Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah, Madrasah Al-Ma’arif Al-Islamiah and Madrasah Alsagoff Al-Arabiah attended Explore@Madrasah, a flagship initiative by MENDAKI Club dedicated to empowering Madrasah students. Held on Saturday, 27 July 2024, at Our Tampines Hub, this year’s initiative combined three sessions – ExploreSELF, ExplorePATHWAYS and ExplorePROFESSIONS – into a half-day programme.

Organised by a dedicated group of former Madrasah students in MENDAKI Club, the half-day programme is designed to enable madrasah students to discover their strengths, the diverse education landscape and varied career pathways beyond the religious sector. The students especially appreciated the ExplorePROFESSIONS session, where they had the opportunity to engage professionals (or Human Libraries) from nine industries such as law, science and social work.

Explore@Madrasah showcased the spirit of giving back by featuring former Madrasah graduates as professionals or Human Libraries. One of the professionals, Ms Musfirah Albakri, a dietician at a community hospital, said, “I have reached a point in my career where I can help others, and I think it would be beneficial for the students to know that there are other professions in healthcare beyond doctors and nurses for them to explore.”

Participant Ms Elyana Amir, a social worker, praised the Human Libraries as proof that Madrasah students can achieve their goals by recognising and maximising their own strengths.

Moving ahead, Mr Muhammad Zulkarnain Azman, Team Lead for Explore@Madrasah shared: “We are thrilled to have expanded our reach to include four Madrasahs for the first time after four years since the inception of EXPLORE Madrasah. The restructuring of our programme reflects our desire and commitment to ensure that our Madrasah students are able to benefit from this programme. Looking at the students’ participation, and hearing their feedback, I am looking forward to organise our fifth run of Explore@Madrasah next year. We hope more Madrasah students and former Madrasah graduates can participate next year!”
